With our rain washed histories, well they do not need to be told

So this writing thing is hard. Believe it or not, that comes as a shock to some people. The myth still persists that words fall off of your fingers, perfect and golden, ready to dazzle any who read them.

Yeah. If only.

And there are many days that you despair of ever getting it right, or finishing, or that what you feel inside will ever translate to the page. The more you care, the more frequent those days are.

This is especially true if you refuse to settle into a nice comfortable niche and instead–challenge yourself. I have a character that is challenging me right now. That’s code for Ohmigod, am I good enough, skilled enough, empathic enough, to do this man justice?

I guess we’ll find out.

In other news, if you haven’t read the entries to my ARC Contest, you should. There are some wonderful, touching, and spooky ghost stories on both the WordPress blog and the LJ blog. I am duly impressed. Seriously.

And if you haven’t entered, please do. Remember, I’m giving away one ARC a month for the next three months.

Sleep now. Work comes early tomorrow.
